Accessibility statement

Last updated: September 29, 2026

We want everyone to be able to play. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Here is what works today and what we are still improving.

What works now

  • Keyboard play. Every tile is a button. Use Tab to move between tiles and Enter or Space to pick a tile, then pick a second tile to swap them.
  • Screen readers. Each tile reads out its row, column, letter and colour, for example "Row 1, column 2: E, in this word, wrong spot". The number of swaps left is announced after each move.
  • Hints without scripts. Hints and answers use standard expand and collapse controls that work with any assistive tech.
  • Light and dark mode. The site follows your device setting.
  • Less motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, tile animations turn off.
  • Zoom. Pages work at up to 200% zoom and on small phone screens.

Known limits

  • Colour carries the main clue in the game. The spoken labels give the same clue, but we plan to add a pattern option for players with colour blindness.
  • Ads from third party networks may not always meet the same standard. We ask our partners to follow accessibility rules.

Report a barrier

If something on the site is hard to use, email info@waffledailywordgame.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 5 business days.
