How does the word dodge you?
At the start every four letter word in our list could be the answer. When you guess, the game sorts all of them by the colors your guess would get. It then keeps the biggest group and shows you that group's colors. The answer keeps moving, but it always matches every clue you have seen.
You win when only one word is left and you type it. There is no guess limit. The aim is to win in as few guesses as you can.
Why four letters?
Short words make the chase tighter. There are fewer four letter words, so each good guess cuts the list hard. But four letter words also share many patterns, like BAKE, CAKE, LAKE, MAKE, RAKE and TAKE, and the game loves to hide in groups like that.
How do you corner it?
- Split the list. A guess with common letters breaks the words into many small groups, so the biggest one left is smaller.
- Skip rare letters early. A guess full of rare letters gets mostly grey, which leaves a huge group alive.
- Watch the count. The line above the board shows how many words are still possible. Aim to cut it by more than half each time.
- Force a choice. When a few words remain, guess one that gives each of them a different color pattern.
What is a good score?
Most players need six to eight guesses at first. Get under six and you are doing very well. Keep a note of your best and try to beat it.
