How do you play?
- Type a real five letter word and press Enter.
- Read the tile colors, then use them on your next guess.
- Find the word within six guesses to win the day.
Green means the right letter in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot. Grey means the letter is not in the word at all.
What makes this page different from our other five letter games?
This page is daily only. There is no Unlimited tab, so the one word you get today is the whole game. It has its own word sequence, so today's word here is not the same as the word on our main five letter page. You can play both and get two different daily words.
How do streaks work?
Your streak counts the days in a row you solved the word. Miss a day or run out of guesses and it starts again at zero. Your results save in your browser on this device, so use the same phone or computer each day to keep the streak alive.
How do you protect a long streak?
- Play it safe on guess two. If your first guess found little, spend the second on five fresh common letters instead of a wild guess at the answer.
- Do not rush the last guess. When two or three words still fit, take a minute. Pick the one that is more common in everyday speech.
- Watch for repeats. Words like SPOON, LEVEL and GEESE use a letter twice. If no single letter word fits, test a double.
- Use the same opener every day. You learn what each color pattern means for that word, and your second guess gets sharper.
When does the next word come out?
At midnight UTC. That is the evening before in the Americas and the morning in Asia. The game picks up the new word on its own when you reload the page.
