How do you play?
Type a real seven letter word and press Enter. The tiles change color to show how close you are. You have seven guesses.
Green means the right letter in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot. Grey means the letter is not in the word at all.
How are seven letter words different?
- Each guess tests seven letters. That is more than a quarter of the alphabet, so two guesses often reveal most of the word.
- Endings matter more. Many seven letter words end in ING, ION, ENT, ERS or ED. Spotting the ending can give away three letters at once.
- Repeats are common. Words like BALLOON, LETTERS and SUCCESS use doubles. Do not rule them out.
What is a good plan for seven letters?
- Open with the word suggested below. It covers the most common letters in our answers.
- If E, R and S show up near the end, test the ERS and IER endings next.
- Lock the start and the end first. The middle often follows once both are green.
- Keep one guess spare for a doubled letter.
Is it harder than five letters?
It is different rather than harder. You learn more per guess, but more words share the same patterns, so the last two guesses need care. Most players solve it in five or six tries once they get used to it.
